How Hydromulching Helps You Landscape Your New Building Quickly

Now that your construction work is almost finished, you'll be left with jobs that are a little more cosmetic. For example, you may need to landscape some of the land around your building. The areas of land you've reserved as green spaces won't be green right now. They'll still look like parts of a construction site. Muddy, cut-up and messy land won't make your building look as good as it should when you're showing round potential residents, so you'll be keen to get your landscaping sorted as soon as possible.

While grass seed is an option, you have to wait too long for regular seed to grow. Turf gives you ready-made grass, but it may need more maintenance time than you can spare to get it bedded into the ground after it is laid. If you're really pushed for time, then look at hydromulching or spray grass.

What is hydromulch and what are its benefits?

What Is Hydromulching?

Hydromulch, sometimes called spray grass, is a composite material that is sprayed on bare earth. The material usually contains a mix of grass seed, mulch, fertiliser and a green dye. This is all mixed with water to create a slurry that is sprayed over the ground through a pump. The slurry then settles into the ground, and grass starts to grow.

What Are the Advantages of Using Hydromulch?

Hydromulching combines grass seeds with materials that encourage faster growth. It is applied to land quickly and effectively. Its green dye shows where the hydromulch has been applied, so it's easy to get full coverage. As an added bonus, the dye itself immediately makes the land look green and less like a construction site.

Apart from taking a long time to grow and look lush, regular grass seed gives hit-and-miss results, especially on land that isn't in great condition. Same goes for turf, which needs good quality soil to bed in well. If your land has been part of a busy construction site, then it isn't likely to be in good nick.

Hydromulching makes it easier for grass to grow effectively on even damaged ground. The spray mix gives a useful natural base to promote growth. As the seed beds in, the mulch and fertiliser break down into the soil and improve its quality. This gives the seed a better footing. The mix also helps hold water in the soil, giving the seed the moisture it needs to grow.

About Me

How Landscaping Can Improve Your Property Hello! My name is Cindy. I have decided to start a new blog which will detail the ways in which landscaping the grounds on your property can improve the way it looks and its value if you decide to sell. Before I called in a team of landscaping contractors, I had no idea about the benefits of landscaping. However, I was really unhappy with the way the grounds of my property looked. The team were great and they helped me to plan how I wanted to change the grounds. I learnt a great deal and I hope by sharing it with you I can help you to landscape your property.
