Two tips for landscaping enthusiasts on tight budgets who want to lay lawn turf

If you enjoy doing landscaping work on your property and would like to lay some lawn turf but your budget for this hobby is quite small, these tips should help.

Order your turf supplies gradually

The process of laying lawn turf involves several steps, each of which will usually require some tools and other landscaping materials. Whilst the money you will need to buy all of the turf supplies you require might be a bit out of your reach at the moment, don't worry; this won't stop you from completing this landscaping project. The reason for this is that whilst it is possible to lay lawn turf very quickly (i.e. over the course of a few days), it is also perfectly fine to do it at a slower pace (by, for example, doing one step of the process each week or fortnight). If you take this slow approach, you can order the turf supplies you'll need for each step on a weekly basis.

For example, after weeding the area where you want the turf to go, you'll need to fertilise it. You can buy the fertiliser, apply it to the area where the lawn will be, wait a couple of weeks and then proceed to buy a rake, which you'll need to use for the next preparatory step of levelling the lawn. The following week, you can buy and lay the turf. Taking your time and spreading the cost over several weeks should allow you to afford all of the supplies, even if your landscaping budget is small.

Become an expert on the turf-laying process before you begin

The other way to ensure that this landscaping task does not cost too much is to become very familiar with all of the minutiae of the turf-laying process beforehand. The reason for this is that a lot of people who attempt to lay turf lawns end up having to purchase extra supplies because they did not do enough research on how to do it before they started.

For example, if you were to fail to remove every single weed from the ground where you want the lawn to be because you were unaware of the importance of this step, the remaining weeds could damage and interfere with the settling of the new turf, in which case you might have to pull up the affected areas of the lawn and then buy and lay more turf in these sections.

About Me

How Landscaping Can Improve Your Property Hello! My name is Cindy. I have decided to start a new blog which will detail the ways in which landscaping the grounds on your property can improve the way it looks and its value if you decide to sell. Before I called in a team of landscaping contractors, I had no idea about the benefits of landscaping. However, I was really unhappy with the way the grounds of my property looked. The team were great and they helped me to plan how I wanted to change the grounds. I learnt a great deal and I hope by sharing it with you I can help you to landscape your property.
